Deborah Gibson: ‘Miley Cyrus Is My Mini-Me’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Original pop princess Deborah Gibson sees a lot of herself in current teen queen Miley Cyrus.

Gibson – known for her 1980s hits “Foolish Beat” and “Shake Your Love” – thinks Miley Cyrus is an excellent artist to pass the pop idol torch to, and considers the Hannah Montana starlet “genuine.”

Gibson says, “There’s an innocence about Miley that reminds me of myself at that age. She’s like my mini-me. I was always the girl in school wearing the music note earrings, just being me, and Miley seems like she’s that type of girl too. She’s just being herself. She doesn’t look like a 15-year-old who was styled by someone who styles 30-year-olds. She’s a teenager.”

But there’s one Pop Tart Gibson isn’t so pleased with: Britney Spears.

She says, “Britney needs to step away from the craziness and find herself again. Underneath it all, she’s still very talented. There’s a voice in there somewhere.”

Gibson is currently using her musical expertise to judge Total Pop Star, an online singing competition on totalpopstar.com, in which she mentors aspiring artists looking for their big break.
