‘Knight Rider’s Role Was Meant To Be

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The new star of Knight Rider has been revving up for the role his whole life.

Justin Bruening stars in Knight Rider, a two- hour TV movie based on the iconic 80s series featuring David Hasselhoff as crime-fighter Michael Knight, and KITT, his talking, death-defying muscle car.

Though Bruening was too young to catch the original episodes, he says watching the syndicated reruns set him on the fast-track to follow Hasselhoff’s footsteps.

Bruening says, “I was a huge fan. I’d run around my house in a leather jacket fighting indiscriminate crime!”

But there may be other coincidental causes behind Breuning’s new gig.

Both Bruening and Hasselhoff started their careers on soap operas, both met their wives on their respective soaps, and both left their soaps at age 28 to move to primetime.

And there’s one more coincidence that’s too crazy to ignore.

Bruening says, “I know David Hasselhoff’s first wife [Catherine Hickland]. She actually remarried a guy named Michael Knight, who played my father on All My Children.”

Knight Rider premieres February 17 on NBC.
