Mario Van Peebles Turns The Channel On Super Crappy TV

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – For actor and director Mario Van Peebles, trashy TV has its limits.

Van Peebles – best known for New Jack City and Baadasssss! – is starring in the upcoming Spike TV movie Sharpshooter, and while it’s another serious screen role, Van Peebles admits that when the cameras are off, he and his five kids veg out on fluff TV – almost.

He says, “I like movies with social commentary, like New Jack City, but at home we watch some mind-numbing st like everyone else. It’s like junk food – there’s television junk food and food that’s better for you. But I was watching some jackass TV, as I call it, and I decided I don’t need to pay the cable bill for that.”

Instead of vegging out with terrible TV, Van Peebles is producing and directing Bring Your ‘A’ Game, a documentary film about the educational crisis in America, which should give viewers – and his own children – something more substantial to snack on.

Sharpshooter premieres this Sunday (Jan. 27) on Spike TV.
