Slash Sets The Story Straight

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One guitar God is trading the pick for the pen to set the record straight about his former band’s breakup.

Slash – best known as the long-haired, top-hat- wearing guitarist for hugely successful rockers Guns N’ Roses – has put his past into the pages of a new memoir titled Slash (HarperEntertainment).

But this time, it’s not the sex or drugs that’s important – it’s the facts.

Slash says, “I would have never written the book if it weren’t to satiate Guns N’ Roses fans about the misinformation surrounding the band. I felt it necessary to get the story straight. That’s the purpose – the rest of it is like, ‘Who cares?’ I could’ve gone on and on about sexual exploits and drugs, but that would’ve been self-indulgent. I don’t consider myself to be so important.”

And while Slash’s partying past is legendary, there’s more to the man than booze and babes.

He says, “There’s this public perception that I’m this neanderthal guitar player that does a lot of drugs and f a lot of girls. People are surprised that there’s more depth to me – that I’m pretty astute and can actually write.”

Slash, co-written by Anthony Bozza, is on shelves now.
