‘Cane’ Starlet Represents Latinos

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Sexy Colombian actress Paola Turbay is ready for her close-up, and she’s using the silver screen to represent Latinos.

Turbay – who’s a well-known Colombian actress, host, and beauty queen – stars in the new CBS drama series Cane, and is having fun using her Cuban-American character to represent her Latin culture.

Turbay says, “I’m taking advantage of being a Latin woman and bringing those traits to my character on Cane. Latin women speak loud, scream at home, and dance – we’re a little bit more exaggerated. My character is strong and equal with her husband, and doesn’t belong to a chauvinist family. She can definitely put her husband in his place!”

And while Turbay’s character is fierce, she had to tone it down some for the series.

Turbay explains, “This is my crossover performance from Colombian soap operas and telenovelas so I definitely had to tone down my acting a bit. Luckily, Colombian telenovelas aren’t quite as melodramatic as other Latin soaps, so it wasn’t too big of a change!”

Cane premieres September 25 on CBS.
