Classic Rocker Turns To Hometown Memories For Luck

AUSTIN, Texas (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Rock stars have all kinds of pre-concert luck rituals, but rocker Stu Cook sings an old childhood song for inspiration before a big show.

Cook – who plays classic jams from his days in Credence Clearwater Revival (CCR) with his own band, Credence Clearwater Revisited – says before a concert, he and former CCR bandmate Doug “Cosmo” Clifford sing a little ditty from their days in Junior High School.

Cook explains, “Doug and I grew up together in El Cerrito, California, and we used to sing this crazy song in middle school about our hometown. The song ended with everyone screaming, ‘Yay, weasel sht!’ and even today, we still scream the song backstage before a big gig to get us pumped and make us laugh.”

And while Cook and Cosmo get a kick out of the grade school tune, their other bandmates don’t quite know what to make of the CCR rockers’ inside joke.

Cook adds, “The other guys know the song by heart now and just go with it, but they don’t get the same satisfaction from it as Doug and I do. We huddle up like a football before kick-off backstage, yell a couple “Yay, weasel shts” and are ready to perform. The band knows the song is from our hometown but it’s still pretty funny seeing the look on their faces when we scream the crazy lyrics!”
