Debra Messing Is Happy To Take Over Role Of Miniseries Queen

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Jane Seymour may be the “Queen of the ‘80’s Miniseries,” but the torch has been passed in the new millennium – to Debra Messing.

That is if the former Will And Grace star is up for the challenge.

Messing plays the title character in the USA network miniseries The Starter Wife and she admits she has no idea where Seymour got all the energy to star in so many lengthy television movies.

Says Messing: “It was emotionally and intellectually exhausting because we were filming six hours worth of scenes out of order and my character goes through so many emotions.”

Although Messing didn’t consult Seymour on how to juggle supersized scripts, she did do her own homework and consulted her notebook every night to “figure out what the character was doing every day.”

As she puts it, “I only went out to dinner once during the four month shoot because I was trying to keep everything straight – it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done but one of the most gratifying.”

The Starter Wife has a two-hour premiere May 31 on the USA network.
