‘American Idol’ Cast-Off Goes Head-To-Head With Sanjaya Malakar

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol cast-off Gina Glocksen admits going head-to-head with contestant Sanjaya Malakar on the show – particularly when it came to their hairstyles.

Glocksen – who was booted from the competition this past Wednesday (Apr. 4) – was known for her hip, red-streaked locks long before Sanjaya’s hair hypnotized America, and says it was an all-out hair war on the set of Idol.

Says Glocksen: “It wasn’t just a singing competition, it was a competition to see who had the best hair each week!”

Glocksen enjoyed getting her hair cut and styled for each episode, but says she never traded hair tips with Sanjaya backstage.

She adds, “He did his own thing so he didn’t really need my advice.”

And while Glocksen is proud of her locks, she admits the tussled teen beat everyone in the hair war when he proudly sported the infamous “ponyhawk,” while singing the No Doubt song, “Bathwater.”

She says, “Sanjaya’s ‘faux hawk’ was crazy and the No. 1 standout hairstyle on the show. He didn’t care what people thought and I thought that was awesome!”
