Easter Sucks Eggs For Farm Animal Activist

VACAVILLE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A farm animal sanctuary is pleading folks to lay off eggs for Easter.

Animal activist Kim Sturla runs the Animal Place in Vacaville, California, and wants people to avoid hatching cute, fuzzy, yellow chicks.

That’s because once the chicks are sold to farms, most of the male chicks are blended up in a large grinder that turns them into pet food.

Using eggs for Easter egg-dying activities also ruffles Sturla’s feathers, because of the smelly, cramped conditions in which she claims hens are forced to live.

Says Sturla: “Hens live the worst lives out of all animals. They live long, but are kept under the worst, most unsanitary conditions anybody could imagine. They are killed in even worse ways, from suffocation to cold-blooded slaughter.”

Sturla speculates cluckers have it worse-off than any other animal because it’s hard to generate concern for an animal that most people believe to be stupid.
