Peter Noone Tells Aspiring Idols: ‘Be Enthusiastic’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Former Herman’s Hermits lead singer Peter Noone is this week’s “instructor” on American Idol, and he hopes to teach the aspiring Idols to have some enthusiasm.

Says Noone: “When me and [co-instructor Lulu] were big in the ’60s, we were taught to nail a song with enthusiasm. I listen to the radio today and I hear a LACK of enthusiasm.”

Noone says enthusiasm goes a long way, and says the best performances aren’t always from the best singers but “from the performers you believe.”

Noone will be working with the five male finalists and hopes that they don’t make the mistake of not trusting the existing melodies of their chosen songs.

In his words, “We don’t need a third-rate Aretha Franklin. We already have one. I can’t name one Justin Timberlake song.”

Noone will be seen teaching the Idols tomorrow night (Mar. 20) and he will sing his 1967 hit, “There’s A Kind Of A Hush,” on the show airing Wednesday (Mar. 21).
