Competitive Eater Washes Down Corned Beef And Cabbage With Water, Not Beer

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A competitive eater hopes the luck of the Irish is with him this St. Patrick’s Day (Mar. 17).

Competitive eater Patrick Bertoletti is one of the contestants participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Chowdown, which has hearty eaters chowing down on green doughnuts, jalapenos and corned beef and cabbage.

In real life, the 21-year-old enjoys a pint of beer with his Irish meals and laments that the contest’s strict no alcohol rule means he’ll have to settle with swigging water between courses.

However, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t plan to enjoy a glass of Guinness after the competition.

Says Bertoletti: “I will definitely be partaking in a St. Patrick’s Day beer later that night.”

Bertoletti says competitive eating has helped him with his competitive drinking, but admits he’s never tried to drink a thirty pack of beer in one sitting.

As he puts it, “I’m 21 now so I’ve kind of settled down in the drinking department.

The St. Patrick’s Day Chowdown airs Saturday (Mar. 17) on Spike TV.
