Jeff Goldblum Channels Bogart For New Role

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Jeff Goldblum is known for playing quirky characters on film, but for his latest television gig he’s channeling someone known more for coolness: Humphrey Bogart.

Goldblum plays detective Michael Raines on the new NBC show Raines, and says he tried to channel film noir greats like Bogey and Robert Mitchum for the role.

As he puts it, “I’d like to think it’s all me but I watched a lot of classic noir movies for the role like Out Of The Past and Casablanca to get a feel for the character.”

Goldblum would also get into character by listening to film noir musical scores and pretending to smoke unlit cigarettes on the set.

He explains: “I didn’t want him [Raines] to be a smoker but he definitely has the inner soul of a smoker.”

Raines debuts March 15.
