Would You Pick The Iditarod Over The Super Bowl??!??

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you could attend any sporting event in the world, you’d probably pick the Super Bowl over a dog sledding championship, right?

Well, not David Alan Hays.

The 52-year-old accountant from Johnson City, Tennessee, is the winner of the Icehouse 6-Pack Challenge, a contest that invited sports fans to pick the winners in various sports including baseball, football, hockey and basketball.

The top prize includes tickets to any sporting event and, amazingly, Hays is choosing the Iditarod dog sledding championship, which starts March 3 in Anchorage, Alaska, over this weekend’s Daytona 500 in sunny Florida.

There’s a method to his madness. Hays has been to Stanley Cup games, pro football playoffs and various all- star games and says the Iditarod is one event that needs to be experienced in person.

Not surprisingly, Iditarod officials are amazed and humbled by Hays’ choice and he hopes they are able to introduce him to his hero, two-time Iditarod champ Jeff King.

Hays says his two kids are thrilled, but admits his wife still wishes he had chosen the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii instead.
