Randy Jackson Dreams Of Jennifer Hudson’s Success

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Jennifer Hudson is currently getting Oscar buzz thanks to her role in DreamGirls, and the first person she’s thanked is American Idol judge Randy Jackson.

Although Hudson didn’t make it to the top five during her stint on the popular show, Jackson says when he hooked up with her at the L.A. premiere of DreamGirls, she told him: “Thanks for making me your wild card pick.”

American Idol starts its sixth season next Tuesday (Jan. 16), and Jackson says the fact that singers who didn’t even get to the finals are still becoming stars is proof that he, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell have an eye – and ear – for talent.

He says just making it on the show is no guarantee of success. As he puts it, “It’s all about singing great songs on the show and great songs AFTER the show.”

Still, there are some great songs Jackson hopes he never hears again, such as “At Last” by Etta James; “Falling” by Alicia Keys and anything by Mariah Carey because “no one but Mariah can do them with justice.”
