Jewel Prefers Hosting To Judging

NASHVILLE (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Folk singer Jewel is picking her way towards a new job – as host of Nashville Star.

The show begins its fifth season next Thursday (Jan. 11), with Jewel as Cowboy Troy’s new co-host.

Although most of her hits have been in the pop field, Jewel says she’s a big fan of the country music-oriented competition and has been trying to get involved for a while.

She admits: “I asked to be a guest judge last season, but I realized I’d only get 20 seconds to make my point. As a co-host, I will be able to mentor the contestants more.”

To that end, Jewel plans to invite the 10 finalists to her ranch in Texas so she can help impart what she’s learned.

In her words, “There are two ways to make it in the music business: Be shmoozy or be the best you can be and realize the cream WILL rise to the top.”
