Umbrella Museum Curator Has Got Visitors Covered

PEAK’S ISLAND, Maine (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One museum curator in Peak’s Island, Maine, is covering up – her umbrellas that is.

Her name is Nancy Hoffman and she operates the “World’s Only Umbrella Cover Museum,” which showcases more than 500 umbrella covers from all over the world.

Hoffman came up with the idea about 15 years ago when she was cleaning house and found five umbrella covers.

Says Hoffman: “I thought if I had this many covers lying around then other umbrella owners must too, so I decided to start a cover museum.”

Hoffman’s museum began in her home, but as her collection grew rapidly, it expanded into a space on Peak’s Island.

Currently, the museum boasts umbrella covers from 36 different countries including Guatemala, Japan and Greece. Her favorite is the one from Nepal that she says “traveled more than five continents with the person that donated it.”

Strangest of all is the bulletproof umbrella cover but Hoffman can’t vouch for it since she’s never actually tested it.
