That’s A Croc: Songwriter Pays Tribute To Steve Irwin

WHITTIER, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A songwriting Steve Irwin fan in Whittier, California, wants the world to know how he feels about the late crocodile hunter with the help of Elton John.

It sounds like a crock but songwriter Bruce Baert thinks it’s fitting to write an Irwin tribute song to the tune of John’s classic song “Crocodile Rock.”

He says he tried to keep the song “fun” and avoided talking about the stingray that killed Irwin because he didn’t want to be disrespectful to his family.

However, Baert admits he’s still a little worried that some of the lyrics will make Irwin’s widow Terri and two children sad.

Still, he insist lines like Steve Irwin never knew him a better time and I guess he never will and Gettin’ stronger as the years went past/We really thought The Crocodile Hunter would last aren’t meant to offend.

Baert will find out if the Irwins agree when he gives them copies of the song at a Wiggles concert next month in Los Angeles.
