John Stamos Reverts To Childhood For Gay Role

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – John Stamos has been making the ladies swoon since he first appeared on General Hospital back in the 1980s and now he hopes to make gay men giddy in a new TV movie.

Stamos plays a gay party planner named Shel in the new A&E movie Wedding Wars and says he didn’t resort to any gay stereotypes for the role.

Instead, he looked back on his childhood.

Says Stamos: “I never looked at Shel as a gay guy per se but just a guy who is fighting for what he believes in. I took a childhood approach, and a brotherly approach to the part, as opposed to a ‘gay’ approach.”

He says he brushed up on his gay marriage rights for the role but admits he didn’t do any research on party planning.

Wedding Wars, which also stars Eric Dane, premieres December 11 on A&E.
