Christmas Comes Early For Howie Mandel

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Christmas came early for Howie Mandel this year – even though he doesn’t celebrate the holiday.

Mandel – who is Jewish – is currently riding high thanks to Deal Or No Deal and admits he wouldn’t have taken the job, if not for his wife.

As he puts it, “She told me I was an idiot if I didn’t take the deal, which is, sometimes, what I want to tell the contestants.”

As a result of the show, Mandel is getting a chance to engage in new projects he otherwise wouldn’t have been offered, such as narrating The Great American Christmas, a reality special debuting November 28 on USA.

He admits, “I don’t know if [the producers] would have called me, if not for Deal.

The show follows six different families as they celebrate Christmas, including a gay couple and a man who has just been released from prison.

Even though Mandel doesn’t celebrate the holiday, he says everyone can relate to “getting together with the family and trying to make everything perfect.”
