Music Man Moby Can’t Shake His Nickname

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Techno artist Moby doesn’t just have eclectic music, he also has a unique name.

That’s the scoop from Moby himself, who says he got his name when he was “no more than 15 minutes old.”

Moby, born Richard Melville Hall, is the great-great-grand- nephew of Author Herman Melville, who wrote the novel, Moby Dick, and Moby suspects that his nickname is a reference to the book.

Says Moby: “Right when I was born my parents thought Richard Melville Hall was too big of a name for such a little baby. So, they jokingly dubbed me Moby, and 41 years later, I still can’t shake my childhood nickname.”

Moby doesn’t mind the moniker because it’s the name under which he’s succeeded in the music biz.

Moby’s true proof of musical success will surface on Tuesday (Oct. 24) when his greatest hits cd, Go: The Very Best Of Moby, is released.
