Joan Rivers Makes Her Own Rules When It Comes To Comedy

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Joan Rivers doesn’t mind following the rules – as long as she’s making them.

The comedian and frequent red carpet critic goes back to her comedy roots for the new special Joan Rivers: Before Melissa Pulls The Plug which premieres October 24 on Bravo and says she has no problem making fun of everyone from Mel Gibson to the widows of 9/11.

Rivers, who got her start as a comedian, says she still loves doing stand up because she doesn’t have to listen to anyone and can play by her own rules.

Says Rivers: “On The View there’s rules, on Regis and Kelly there’s rules. Everyone has rules – that’s how the game works.”

She attributes her longevity to her no holds barred comedy and a large gay fan base.

As she puts it, “When I look out in the front row and see six gay guys sitting there, I know it’s going to be a fun show.”
