Cher’s Designer Can’t Stand Bare Midriffs

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – In an ironic twist of fate, fashion designer Bob Mackie has come to loathe a fashion statement he helped create – the bare midriff.

Mackie is best known for his costume collaborations with Cher, but admits he can’t understand why anyone would leave their homes with their belly hanging out, especially with “obesity the way it is these days.”

Says Mackie: “I just shake my head and say, ‘Is this something we have to get used to?”’

Although Mackie can’t stand looking at belly bulge, he is excited that Cher has decided to auction off some of his designs for charity – although she’s keeping the famous get-up she wore when she won her Oscar.

Mackie isn’t worried about an influx of fat people trying to fit into Cher’s outfits because, as he puts it, “I have a feeling they’re going to be a little pricey so people probably wont be throwing them on for Halloween.”

Cher’s Bob Mackie gowns, as well as other Cher memorabilia, will be on display at The Beverly Hilton starting tomorrow (Sept. 29) but the actual auction will take place Tuesday (Oct. 2) and Wednesday (Oct. 3).
