According to experts whove tracked the shows cursing, the third season has been the dirtiest so far.
In fact, media critic David Scott Diffrient notes the show has used the f-word a total of 2,821 times during its run beating out its use of the ever-popular c■■■sucker by a 13 to 1 margin.
Thats a lot of cussing, but Diffrient argues its not as surprising as when an actual erect penis is brandished in one Deadwood episode, yet goes virtually ignored by observers and critics.
He says the fact that heated debates over the shows profane, florid prose continue while shots of male full-frontal wood are hardly noticed, makes Deadwoods popularity very revealing, if youll pardon the pun.
Diffrient discusses Deadwoods dirty talk in an upcoming book, Reading Deadwood: A Western To Swear By (I.B. Taurus).
