Rapper-Actor Ludacris Cuts Braids For New Look, Songs

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Samson lost his strength when he cut his hair but Chris “Ludacris” Bridges believes cutting off his trademark braids is necessary.

The rapper-actor has cut his hair short because he wants to change his image to match the new growth in his music and career.

There’s another reason, as he puts it: “I’ve worn my braids every kind of way you can braid them.”

Bridges says, “Some people have said I have comedic elements to my music and that’s probably true,” but that his new songs deal with weightier, more mature topics related to his own life and career lately.

And while he didn’t cut his hair “in order to be taken more seriously,” he agrees that long hair is usually associated more with younger, or “less serious” types.

In Bridges’ words: “I would never do anything just [because managers or record labels] told me to. Everything you see me do, you know that’s it coming from me and because I want to do it.”

Ludacris will unveil his new ’do in his new video, “Money Maker,” which debuts on MTV early this fall.
