Aggressive Gator Shot After Barging Into Woman’s Home

BRADENTON, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Doggy doors aren’t always for doggy and what crawls through will surprise you.

Case in point: Candy Frey, a woman in Bradenton, Florida, who had a visit from an alligator this past weekend.

Frey says her two golden retrievers alerted her to the visitor and came in the room as her daughter, Kristen, was beating away the alligator with a shovel.

In her words, “My instinct was to protect my loved ones so I shot at the gator 4 times with my pistol.”

Frey admits shooting probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, so she’s happy that her family is safe and that the cops let her off the hook with just a warning from police.

As for the gator? It wasn’t hurt and was released back into the lake – just 400 feet from her house.

That scares Frey, who plans to prevent future run-ins with the gator by installing a more secure doggy door, preferably with electronic recognition.
