‘Poseidon’ Fans Have Sinking Feeling About Remake

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The shipboard disaster pic Poseidon opens today (May 12) and many fans of the original Poseidon Adventure have a sinking feeling about it.

So says Jak Castro, who is president of the Poseidon Adventure Fan Club, an organization with 2000 fans obsessed with the 1972 movie.

Castro says the producers of the new film, which stars Josh Lucas and Kurt Russell, made a mistake by distancing themselves from the original.

As he puts it, “They made a mistake by removing the word ‘Adventure’ – and there are none of the original characters.”

Although the special effects for the new film are reportedly state-of-the-art, Castro says he’s unimpressed by the clips he’s seen because, “It shows a computer generated ship that’s as fake as it sounds.”

Castro wants to keep an open mind before he sees the movie this weekend but he admits that, unlike when he sees the original film, he won’t be wearing a tux to the screening.
