Elephant Poop Paper Turning Scrapbooks Into Crap Books?

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Your family scrapbooks could soon be “crap books,” thanks to a new line of paper made from elephant poop.

It’s called Mr. Ellie Pooh and is made from elephant dung that has been dried, boiled and sterilized before being turned into paper.

Mr. Ellie Pooh president Karl Wald says scrapbook buffs like the crappy paper because it “embosses nicely and it tears like butter because of the fibrous content.”

All the material needed for the elephant poop paper comes from Sri Lanka and since a pachyderm drops 300 lbs. a day, Wald admits there’s little chance of a shortage.

However, the product is designed to save the island nation’s elephant population, which is threatened by farmers who kill the animals when they raid the pineapple fields.

Wald figures if just one percent of scrapbookers use the elephant paper, he’ll be able to pay the farmers more to collect wild dung than they would earn using their land for agriculture.
