Jerry Jihad Makes Holy War On Stupidity

SANTA MONICA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Donning a turban to sing about the stupidity of the world’s political and religious leaders sounds like a dangerous idea, but it’s music to the ears of Devo co-founder Gerry Casale.

He’s just renamed himself Jerry Jihad and is recording a new album with a backing band called the Evildoers.

Jihad says he’s “fed up with the stupidity of our leaders today, in all parties. Like that guy in the movie [Network], I’m just not going to take it anymore.”

The new band also features fellow Devo members Mark Mothersbaugh, Bob Mothersbaugh and Robert Castle, plus Josh Freese of A Perfect Circle and Dave Shultz of Goo Goo Dolls.

The Evildoers debut record will be titled Mine Is Not A Holy War, and Jihad says it’s meant to attack the scourge of politics and society today: people who “believe rather than think.”

Jerry Jihad’s debut album will storm record store shelves July 11, followed by a tour later this summer.
