For those not in the know, the Church is a faux-theology invented by Bobby Henderson, who conceived the spoof spiritualism as a parody reaction to the Kansas Board of Educations move to teach Intelligent Design as an alternative theory in science classes.
Henderson first put down the words of his supreme being in The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster but now that gnocchi gospel is getting competition from Chicago resident Jon Smith, author of God Speaks!: The Flying Spaghetti Monster In His Own Words (Lulu.com).
Smith claims his spaghetti screed is the only direct line to universal truths thanks to his use of the sacred tool of anagrams.
One anagram reads: When the fish that travels over both land and sea/ Is cast up on to the shore by a great wave, its shape foreign, smooth and frightful. For the sea the enemies soon reach the walls.
Both forms of the Church seem like crazy ways to pasta time but Smith claims that the difference between the two forms of Pastafarianism is analogous to the original Christian church and the Reformation.
