The country singer admits that the thought of being governor of Tennessee interests him but says if it were to happen it would be down the road after the kids were grown.
He figures that his showbiz success would be an advantage because, as he puts it, someone in my position wouldnt have to coddle the things others have to coddle.
There is precedent for a country singer running the show. Jimmie Davis, who wrote You Are My Sunshine, served as governor of Louisiana in the late 1940s and then again in the early 1960s.
But before McGraw can think about attracting voters, he has to attract viewers to his upcoming NBC special, Tim McGraw: Reflected, which airs April 7.
