Tracey Gold: ‘You CAN Be Too Thin’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If there’s one saying Growing Pains actress Tracey Gold wishes would go away, it’s this one: “You can’t be too rich or too thin.”

Gold – who has openly discussed her past battles with eating disorders and is now an ambassador for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) – says the saying drives her mad because, of course, “You CAN be too thin!”

It’s currently National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (Feb. 26 to Mar. 4), and Gold says illnesses like anorexia and bulimia are not only prevalent, they’re celebrated in a way by the media and our society.

To change that, she says she’d like to see skeletal starlets taken out of magazines instead of being put on pedestals as “fashion icons.”

The actress says the stars who’ve lost a drastic amount of weight and might need an intervention are “the girls that plummet and stay down there,” but she refuses to point any fingers or name any names, adding, “Who am I to speculate if it’s anorexia or not?”
