Wayne Newton Sees The Gritty Side Of Sin City

LAS VEGAS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You’d think being Wayne Newton – a.k.a. “Mr. Las Vegas” – would open a lot of doors for you, but the truth is, they’re mostly back doors.

Newton will play himself in a cameo role on the March 3 episode of NBC’s Las Vegas, but while Newton is considered Las Vegas royalty, it turns out he sees the trashier side of Sin City.

In Mr. Newton’s words, “I haven’t been in the front door of a [Las Vegas] hotel in 20 years.”

He says because he’s working and can’t be seen, he goes through the back alleys, kitchens and back doors where the garbage containers are.

Here’s another surprise: Newton says just a few weeks ago the general manager of the Flamingo Hotel, where he performs regularly, asked him to take a walk. They ended up walking down the famous Vegas Strip, which he says he hadn’t done in years.

He admits, “I’m a complete 180 degrees from what people would think.”
