World’s First ‘Straight To IPod’ Movie To Be Released

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One movie-maker is hoping to find success by releasing his film on iPod video before going to the theaters.

The film, Zzyzx, stars Kenny Johnson from the TV show The Shield and is a modern day thriller revolving around murder, drugs and greed. It’s also believed to be the first “straight to iPod” motion picture-length feature film.

Most films go to theaters first, then go to DVD, but by bringing his movie to iPod first, producer and director Richard Halpern says, “it will be a great litmus test” to see what type of effect the marketing methods will have on the movie industry.

Halpern says, “We’re working backwards here.”

He claims it works well for indie films like the Blair Witch project which circulated on the internet before hitting the box office.
