New King Kong Movie Posters Could Bring Princely Sum

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Original movie posters from the 1933 King Kong movie can bring in King Kong prices, but so could artwork from Peter Jackson’s new version.

According to Joe Burtis, the Director of Client Services at the Motion Picture Arts Gallery in East Rutherford, New Jersey, movie posters of the new film could bring in big bucks at auctions in years to come.

Burtis says the world record for a King Kong poster was set at auction in 1999 for $244,500, and lobby cards have brought in $4,000.

But Burtis says collectors aren’t likely to go as ape over the new ones.

In his words, “While you won’t be seeing six figure prices for the 2005 posters any time soon, there is no reason why these posters might eventually become quite valuable. It all depends on how many are printed, how many survive over time and in what condition.”
