Santa Claus Helps Disaster Relief

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Christmas is usually the busiest season for Santa Claus but not this year. Up until a few weeks ago, Santa Claus was in Dallas, working with FEMA on disaster relief.

But this Santa Claus doesn’t live at the North Pole, he lives in Incline Village, Nevada, and is a Catholic priest who legally changed his name to Santa Claus a few years back.

Nevertheless, this Claus has the same white beard and twinkle in his eye as his more famous namesake – and that came in handy while helping people who lost their homes because of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.

There were a few kids at the relief center who were worried that Santa Claus wouldn’t know where they lived – and he was happy to relieve their minds, even though he was wearing a blue FEMA shirt, instead of a fur-lined red suit.

In addition, he helped fulfill a longtime wish of woman who told him, “Get over here! I’ve been waiting 94 years to meet you.”

But while Santa Claus was helping others, he was also helping himself – by losing weight. Back in June, Claus weighed nearly 300 pounds and he’s lost 63 since then, in part, because he’s not eating as many cookies.
