Dressing Up Like Shrimp Gives New York Woman A Taste Of Celebrity

EAST PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A woman in East Patchogue, New York, is getting a taste of being a celebrity – just by dressing up as a giant shrimp.

For the last few months, Debra Dougherty has been wearing a shrimp head in public as part of a contest she and her husband, Ed, entered for the Long John Silvers seafood chain.

The contest asked people to supply pictures of themselves wearing shrimp heads at various landmarks and, so far, Debra has worn hers everywhere from the Empire State Building to, appropriately enough, Sea World and The Swimmers Hall of Fame.

Debra has gotten attention worthy of Britney Spears, such as the time when she and Ed went to see the New York Islanders and got such a crowd reaction that the guards moved them down to the front row.

Now, Debra and Ed are hooked and plan to make as many shrimp head appearances as possible. They plan to be in the audience of Good Morning America this weekend and hope to get a shrimp head photo with Dick Clark during his New Year’s Celebration in Times Square.
