My Little Ponies Cost A Pretty Penny

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You might remember My Little Pony figurines costing just few dollars, but a group of female artists are selling their jumbo versions of the ponies for thousands of dollars.

The toy company Hasbro recently invited a group of female artists to customize 18-inch-tall blank vinyl My Little Pony figurines for an exhibit called The Pony Project.

Spokeswoman Sarah Bronilla says about half the ponies – ranging in price from $500 to $7,500 – were sold two weeks ago at New York City’s Milk Gallery, and though prices seem steep, she reveals one 35-year-old man “who loves My Little Pony” casually dropped $16,000 on the fantasy figurines.

The remaining pretty ponies will be put up for sale online at in the next week or two and Bronilla mentions that fifty percent of all proceeds go to a charity benefitting children with serious illnesses.

She says standout steeds include a “pony that turns into an X-ray” for $600 and a $3,000 stunner made by Kimora Lee Simmons that is “totally blinged out with jewelry. There’s a $1500 watch on that pony!”
