Ohio Man The Fastest Pumpkin Carver Alive

BALTIMORE, Ohio (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ohio native Jerry Ayers doesn’t like to waste his time when he carves a pumpkin – nor anyone else’s.

Ayers is known as one of the fastest pumpkin carvers in the world, typically taking just over a minute to artfully slice and dice a single gourd.

During the last two decades, the 60-something one-time insurance agent has traveled across the U.S. demonstrating his super-fast pumpkin-carving technique, which he insists is a natural born talent.

Still, he says, “It’s not always about speed, it’s about having fun.”

Ayers’ fun has had its drawbacks though. He figures he’s developed arthritis in his wrist from carving more than 10,000 pumpkins in the last 10 years.

The pain isn’t slowing him down, though. Ayers will be at the Circleville Pumpkin Show Friday (Oct. 21) in Circleville, Ohio, to prove it.

And next year at the pumpkin show, he plans on carving 100 pumpkins in a single day to honor the festival’s 100th anniversary.
