Batman Play Opens In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Holy thespian, Batman! The Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder are doing community theater in San Francisco.

Batman the TV Show: The Play, a stage version based on the 1960s campy TV series with an original plot, opened this past weekend at a theatre called the Dark Room.

Neither Adam West or Burt Ward from the TV show are in the production, but writer/director Jim Fourniadis says he wrote the roles with them in mind.

Fourniadis says he watched old episodes of the TV series until, in his words, “I was walking around talking like Burt Ward.”

However, he says he didn’t play up the homoeroticism between Batman and Robin because, he thought, “It was too easy.”

Instead, Fourniadis says, “I wanted to make them asexual to the point of being Boy Scouts.”

The show will close Oct. 30.
