Visiting Real-Life E.R. Cures John Leguizamo Of ‘ER’ Fear

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – John Leguizamo is the newest cast member of ER but he admits at first, he was worried sick about taking the role.

Leguizamo admits he’s known for his over-the-top acting style and wasn’t sure it would work in a show like ER.

However, he cured his worrywart syndrome by visiting emergency rooms in Los Angeles and discovered that many of the real-life docs shared a “gallows humor” like himself.

As he puts it, “I saw doctors eating junk food, listening to hip-hop and one guy stuck himself with a needle when he was supposed to be giving a patient a spinal tap.”

Once he saw the human factor, Leguizamo felt more comfortable taking the role of Dr. Ernesto Clemente, who is described as “a dynamic supervising physician with unconventional ideals and use of cutting-edge technology.”

In fact, he’s so excited about the role that he hopes it lasts longer than the 12 episodes he’s currently signed on to do.

Lequizamo’s first episode airs Oct. 20.
