Neil Strauss, who has spent time with Cruise for various profiles, says when he first heard about the romance, he got the impression it really was true love because, he insists, Cruise is not afraid of being in love and makes all of his own decisions without relying on anyone else.
Strauss learned that firsthand when he asked the actor for advice while writing his new book, The Game: Penetrating The Secret Society Of Pickup Artists (ReganBooks), about his own true-life experiences giving seduction seminars to what he calls average frustrated chumps.
The book ends with Strauss settling down with one woman and he worried it might sound too cheesy or contrived even though its true.
But Cruise disagreed and told him, Whats wrong with being in love? So when the actor jumped on Oprah Winfreys couch, Strauss thought to himself, Hes not a hypocrite; hes not afraid of being in love and he has the guts to stand up for what he believes.
