Theyre called Hells Satans and while it conjures up the image of a tough-as-nails biker gang, theyre really 21 moped-riding rebels without a cause who buzz through the streets of Richmond.
Theyre also the subject of a new short documentary aptly titled Hells Satans, which premieres at the Chicago Underground Film Festival today (Aug. 19).
Director Brian Davis knows two guys in the gang who named it after a Simpsons episode and insists, All the tough elements are involved: leather jackets, studded denim and one guy has a tattoo of a pirate holding a dagger.
He admits, the name is ...also a joke because you cant be that tough riding around on a moped going 30 mph.
Although mopeds arent the fastest mode of transportation, the 25-year-old Davis says he was impressed enough to buy one of his own. Sadly, he says he could never get it running and has already sold it.
