A Travel Guide To U.S. Toilets

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Travel guru Arthur Frommer made his name sharing tourist bargains in books like Europe on $5 a Day. But now, he’s turning his attention to another travel essential: Finding a clean restroom.

Frommer has partnered with Novartis Pharmaceuticals to pen a travel guide to U.S. toilets: Where to Stop & Where To Go: A Guide to Traveling with Overactive Bladder in the United States.

He decided to write the guide after learning that 33 million people suffer from bathroom urgency and some rarely leave the house due to their fear of not finding a restroom on the road.

In his research, Frommer discovered that bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Borders are a treasure trove for large, clean toilet facilities – as are major hotels.

He also found that Las Vegas is the easiest city to find a public restroom, because of the many casinos which use toilets almost like a lure to get customers inside to gamble.

But what if the only restroom in sight is labeled “For Customers Only”? Frommer says always keep an extra $5 on hand so you can plop it down for a drink and become a customer.
