The Biggest Fear On ‘Fear Factor’? Casting The Right Contestants

ORLANDO, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The biggest fear for the producers of Fear Factor doesn’t involve hanging from a helicopter or eating sheep’s eyeballs – it’s casting the show.

According to executive producer Matt Kunitz, picking the right contestants is key to creating an interesting show. That’s why he tries to shy away from bringing in athletic jocks who can ace the stunts in favor of casting average schlumps who will struggle.

In his words, “For me, the excitement of the show is the failure – the struggle is the drama.”

He says he shared that sage advice with theme park planners at Universal, who are launching a Fear Factor-themed attraction in their parks next month.

Kunitz is warming up for the Fear Factor theme park adventures by filming the final episode of this season’s show at Universal’s Orlando resort.

Stunts on the newlywed-themed show airing May 23 include an underwater car escape and a chow-down on a wedding cake filled with alligator eyeballs and worms.
