Inside The Pope’s Robes

DENVER (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Of the many people mourning Pope John Paul II, few knew him as intimately as Rick Bugdanowitz.

You see, Bugdanowitz knows what it’s like to be inside the Pope’s robes, because he actually cleaned them during one of the Pontiff’s last visits to the United States.

The owner of Denver’s La Nouvelle Fine Cleaners was hand- picked by the Vatican over two other cleaners who handle the vestments of the local archdiocese – which Bugdanowitz finds interesting because those cleaners were Catholics and he’s Jewish.

The massive amounts of clothes from the Pope and his entourage kept the workers at La Nouvelle cleaning for three days straight, but there was one saving grace: Bugdanowitz says the clothes had no pesky stains from sacramental wine spills or other ceremonial goofs.

Bugdanowitz is confident that he’ll also be the next Pope’s dry cleaner of choice if the yet-to-be-chosen Catholic leader passes through Denver in the future.

In his words, “No one else can match our quality.”
