Rodney Dangerfield Getting The ‘Ray’ Treatment

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If Ray Charles can be the subject of a movie then surely a film about Rodney Dangerfield is in the cards.

Dangerfield died last October, but his widow Joan is currently planning a movie based on his autobiography, It’s Not Easy Bein’ Rodney.

Mrs. Dangerfield says her late husband was high on Sideways star Paul Giamatti playing him but also feels Steve Buscemi would be a good choice, “but he would have to gain a few pounds.”

The Dangerfield film is a long way off, but there are plenty of other Rodney items around, such as The Ultimate No Respect Collection, a DVD that includes his complete Vegas act.

Not that it’s getting enough respect. As Mrs. Dangerfield puts it, “The Vegas act is his masterpiece but the DVD lists it as merely bonus footage.”

There’s also a musical CD, Romeo Rodney, featuring Dangerfield doing respectable remakes of standards like “Fools Are Us,” “She’s Funny That Way,” and “They Say You’re Laughing At Me.”

Despite the titles, Mrs. Dangerfield says the CD is meant to be serious because, in her words, “When Rodney was happiest, he was always singing.”
