New Show Brings Queer Eye To The Traveling Guy

VANCOUVER, B.C. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A new TV show is bringing a queer eye to travel.

It’s called Pink Planet: A Global Search For Gay Culture and it’s the first travel show to focus on gay and lesbian travel.

Pink Planet producer John Thornton says each episode puts a queer eye on a popular tourist mecca, such as the nude beaches in Hawaii; the gay rodeo in Calgary, Alberta; and the numerous “lipstick lesbians” of West Hollywood.

In addition, the show features tips for trendy shopping districts and hole-in-the-wall restaurants in each locale.

But while Pink Planet centers on the gay world, Thornton says non-gays are getting lots of info from the show. For instance, one suburban mom who suspects her 10-year-old is gay told Thornton the show comforted her because it showed “there is a whole world available for him.”

Pink Planet currently airs on a TV station in Vancouver, B.C., but Thornton says there are plans to syndicate it internationally.
