Don’t Wash Hair, Use Knives Or Lend Money On Chinese New Year

RICHMOND, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Washing your hair every day is usually a good idea, but doing it on the Chinese New Year, which is Wednesday (Feb. 9), will only bring bad luck.

That’s according to feng shui expert Robyn Bentley, who has developed a list of superstitious do’s and don’ts for the day that officially starts the Year of the Rooster.

She says by washing your hair on this day, you will wash away any good luck for the new year.

Also, Bentley says you should open every door and window at midnight of the new year to let go of the old year and decorate your house with plastic firecrackers to “frighten away evil spirits and the bad luck they might bring.”

Other tips for the first day of the new year: don’t say the number four because it sounds like the Chinese word for death; don’t using knives or scissors because it will cut off fortune; and never lend money or you will be lending all year.
