MUNSTER, Ind. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The inside of your home could be considered art.

In her upcoming exhibit, Interiors, which begins May 14 at the Active Art Salon & Gallery in Munster, Indiana, artist Amanda Heise will explore the idea of homes and rooms with multimedia art pieces featuring household items like wood, tile, and countertop scraps.

Heise was inspired by store displays of fake rooms not unlike those seen at Ikea, calling them an “oversized dollhouse” with “endless possibilities” for fun, adventure, and make-believe play.

She uses household materials as “movable pieces” in her work so they’re interactive, just like the store displays she so loves and visits.

Heise admits it’s a little “ironic” to create a “generic living space,” but she feels it’s important to pay homage to the idea of home, space, and family, especially her own.
