The Office for the Development of Substitute Materials is working day and night to find ways for humans to do activities more efficiently.
Most recently, theyre tackling naps.
Thanks to the Vertical Bed, people who go about their busy day and are completely exhausted no longer have to find a desk or bench to sneak some shut-eye on.
The bed consists of metal braces that attach to subway grates and can fully support a persons body.
The user straps themself into the bars and a back piece to avoid falling over.
For comfort, a cushioned neck brace holds the head straight while noise-canceling headphones, opaque sunglasses, and a free- standing umbrella make sure nothing interrupts the streetside power nap.
In research studies, spokesperson Jamie OShea says subjects were able to sleep comfortably and even float in and out of sweet dreams.
